what do you collect?

among a few other things, i collect hotel bells.

it was amazing luck, i found these three at two different estate sales last weekend. i had not come across one in over a year. it was weird and wonderful.

this was my first - the one that started the whole collection. it was a birthday gift from a crazy antique dealer friend.

it's made from a polished shell - i imagine it came from some lovely victorian seaside resort.

i keep all these treasures in what my husband christened "the booty chest." it's an old china breakfront that is decorated with vintage matchbook covers. the decoupage project has been going on for over 10 years, but i am very particular about the covers and add them whenever i find ones i like. i am in no particular hurry to finish it.

the chest is in my bedroom, those are vintage hats piled on top.

i also hoard old metal souvenir buildings from france & italy.

mostly it's eiffel towers, but there are a few other sights in there.

my treasures only come from estate and garages sales, never from shows or ebay - that's would take all the fun out of it for me. i like to feel like an archeologist, or maybe a pirate.
