Wreck the Halls

"Make it fun" he said, "and make it creepy."

Ok, can do.

Old Plush

I shoulda been doing this, I shoulda been doing that.

Instead I squeezed out some oil paint and started a batch of small paintings while blasting the Pogues on my studio stereo.

This is day one of this little painting.

#RSD16

Record Store Day 2016 is in my rear view mirror.
I think I need a nap tagged with the RSD16 hashtag.

There were free cookies and a long line at 9:00am.
It was so much longer than the photo shows...

I like the photo below where you can see the line reflected in the glass.

I could show you a million pictures but I am going to share just a few favorites that will never make it into the official wrap-up.

And the buttons - let's not forget the free buttons.
It's a cheap thrill but I love getting to design the free button every year.

Farting Art

Designing pinback buttons for local events.
I love farting around making buttons.

I would like to remind you to support your local independent record store and also to go to some fall festivals because winter is coming.

Pin You

I love designing pinback buttons.

Years ago "the store" bought a button making machine.
It languished, un-loved and un-used.
I commandeered it and now I make thousands of these suckers a year.

Store buttons, vinyl themes buttons, cat buttons...
I design 'em in photoshop, print  and cut them, and then hand stamp each one into a button.
Two new designs I finished up this week.

Some other recent designs.

Two Headed Wolf

My husband owns an enormous independent record store.
Sometimes, when I get inspired, I will design a tee shirts for his crazy business. This is my latest.
The new shirts should be on the shelves late next week.

Road Trip

Everyone from Record Archive piled in the party bus yesterday afternoon and went to Art Park to see the free ZZ Top show.  This is what it looks like when 30,000 to 40,000 people sing along to "Sharp Dressed Man."

P.S. you cannot even begin to see the size of the crowd in this photo. It spread all the way to the left, and the right, around those trees, behind the stage and way up above and beyond me.

Record Store Day 2011

Where have I been?

Where I always am mid-April - celebrating Record Store Day.

My husband owns a large independent record store and throwing the party of the year is a big production.
What with 9 live bands, 3 giant cakes and thousand and thousands of guests it's much bigger than a wedding.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by and partied with us - it was, as the kids say, epic.

above - the 2011 Record Store day button from the Record Archive.
I designed it and made 200 that were given away on Saturday.

Hooray Hooray It's Record Store Day!

It's the biggest day of the year for Indie Record Stores.

Which means, in my house, this past week has been devoted to preparing for the merry madness. It's like throwing a wedding, except that there are eight bands and four cakes.

These are the designs for this year's buttons. I am rather proud of them, I think they capture the spirit of the day. We have a button making machine and it is calling to me to get busy and press out the last few buttons. If you live here in Rochester, NY and you would like one - get on over to Record Archive and ask Dick to give you some, his pockets are full of them.

In case the green goat button on the right doesn't make any sense to you - it's a spoof on a Genny Bock Beer can. The local brew of choice in the spring. I think the pizza wing & 45 insert butterfly speaks for itself.

Art to Go

Hey! I am in this exhibition and it opens tomorrow night.
Photobucket
All the ART pieces in the show are reasonably priced and can be plucked right off the wall and taken home. Just pay at the counter, you can even have your new ART wrapped in complimentary gift wrapping by the friendly Record Archive staff before you take it home right then and there.

The big ART TO GO opening Party is December 4th 6-9pm - the exhibited works will be for sale through the holidays with more ART being added to the wall as pieces sell like holiday hotcakes.
