Pumpkin Spice Everything

Wee glass pumpkin pendants with bronze 'stem' bails.

The pumpkins were made on the end of the mandrel and the bail is two-part epoxied in place.

Colors? I used up some orange short rods that were cluttering up my bench for the base glass and rolled that in ocher frit.

'Late Summer Seeds' necklace - lampwork glass beads and hand hammered bronze links.

This is a new glass from Cim's called 'corn silk.'
I am mad for it.
Also Cim's 'peat moss,' 'maple' and Effetre 'topaz.'

Above is the first batch, fresh out of the kiln.
I use a small brass tong press from Divardi glass to form the beads.

Mid-construction with my trusty hammer.

Super fun to wear.

Tiny pairs of glass 'seed pods.'

Perfect for earrings.

Fall-ing off a Plant

 A really large pod pendant.

Made on the end of a mandrel with a bronze bail.

Coral glass with Val Cox Raku frit, the leaves are some unknown mustard green I found in my shorts pile. I wish I knew what it was, I'd like to order some.

The little idea sketch I worked from.

What Is Wrong With Us?

When things are so upsetting that I cannot sleep, I don't just lay there.
I get up, turn on my computer and start designing new buttons.

Finger on the Button

When you can't sleep because you're fretting about political things you can't control.
Get up, turn on your computer, and design some anti-war buttons.

Apparently Pirates are Carnivores

Postcard front (above)
Postcard back (below)

Poster (below)

The hardest ones are those that are really an essay and are pretending to be a poster.

This is the 4th Whiskey Brunch!
So much fun, I wouldn't miss it.
I had a blast making this summery poster and buttons.

I absolutely bought this perfect, little brush because of the name - Velvetouch.
That's how we professional artworkers roll.

Brite Summer Flowers

I love summer parties under giant tents, especially if there are magic markers.

Wild Strawberries

I had an idea, to make tiny wild strawberry charms in all sorts of fun glass and frit colors.
Each one would have a little brightly colored metal bead cap hand cut from a vintage tin.

Above is the first batch of berries, still on their mandrels, fresh out of the kiln.
Below are all the berries cleaned next to a pile of tin disks ready to be domed.

Don't even ask how many funky old tins I have kicking around, some are cut into sheets of metal and the rest are piled into a big storage box in my studio.

Here they are!
All dressed up with their domed bead caps and little bronze bails.

Frit Happens -or- Full of Frit

I love organizing, especially a good sorting.

Here are the new little plastic jars I ordered full of frit.
Begone dysfunctional plastic baggies!

More Buttoned Up

A few more handmade glass buttons. (SOLD OUT)

Thrifty Britches

Don't you dare waste a scrap of glass.
I use up every short rod, little dinky pile of frit and even the popped off end flakes to make buttons.

I make mine a little differently than most.
They're done off mandrel and the holes are pierced and then flame polished.
The holes are super smooth and rounded, so they will never cut your thread or yarn.

Here's a little strawberry button.
I just put all of these in my etsy shop (SOLD OUT)

Party time!

What's She Building In There?

Working on a couple of necklaces.

These necklaces are called 'Hippie Chick' necklaces.

I take my big dish of stray single beads and lay out a pretty necklace.
Then just simply rosary chain them together with bronze or sterling silver.
This time I added some ceramic and bone skulls.

Tee Shirts, Posters and Buttons, Oh My

Very few beads but a lot of commercial work this week.
All for an event that's part of this year's Rochester Cocktail Revival.

This looks like quite the party - above is my design for the poster and postcard.
Below is the tee shirt design.

Here are the bits for Facebook and Instagram.

A giant vinyl banner for behind the stage (something I've never been asked to produce before).

Here's a photo of the banner out in the real world.

And lastly, my favorite thing in the world to make - buttons!

My butt is flat from so much time parked in front of my computer.
