these are some of my first marbles.
believe me when i tell you there were quite a few potatoes and cracked blobs that preceded these two. especially before i discovered there were marble molds.
they're 7/8" of an inch in diameter made of soda lime glass, not borosilicate (pyrex).
according to my husband, the expert, "men love marbles."

I'm not a man, but I am particularly fond of marbles!
That is how I got started making beads - I wanted to learn how to make marbles; I found a beadmaking class and took that instead, and the rest is history.
I meant to add - those are beautiful marbles.
So, you were making marbles without the use of a marble mold? That sound exceedingly difficult.
I don't know if men love marbles ... they do lose their marbles though ... haha !
These marbles are gorgeous.. would also look great as caged pendants!
I love the poodles photos and the painting update!
I just discover your blog today (shame on me...) and i found your work so beautiful, the shapes, the colours. I really fall in love !
As spawnofflame says, i'd like starting making beads too, but here in France, we have no beadmaking class !!! People who knows don't want to explain how they do. So my question is, do you know A book for beginners ? with photos, (my english is not good enough to understand technical terms).
Thank yo so much for your answer and your wonderful work and photos.
