Just a Hint of Green

The landscape here is beautifully grim this time of year.

The snow is mostly melted but nothing has turned green just yet.

It's all about the anticipation of spring.

Unleafing and greening, such a fascinating process to witness.
Here in Arizona, we have parched dry brown with mushrooming gorgeously spring green leaves erupting from our biggest trees. Soon the wildflowers will poke out amidst the dry ground.
And then i get to witness spring all over again when I return to Alaska next month. From snow to mud to dry in the span of a month.

Where did you take those photos, Lucinda?
It always amazes me how different the timing of the 'greening' is between there and here (VA). It was so incredibly grey, brown, drab when I was there 2 weeks ago (and snowy!!). I know you're looking forward to some color in the landscape. :)
