Ceramic Beads

This is a snapshot from my friend Nancy's studio.

She creates large ceramic sculptures, like the hanging piece of 'tree jewelry' suspended in front of her window.

Nancy had a gang of ladies over to make beads. See my flock of porcelain birds? They're perched on toothpicks so that there glazes can dry. They are not really green, the clear glaze is tinted with a phantom green so that you can see where you're putting it as you paint it on. Nancy swears that it disappears when fired.

I can pick them up tomorrow.

It was great to get a bead fix.
I am currently without a torch and will be for at least another six weeks. I think I may have found a new place to rent some time, which will hold me over until I finally get my own space and torch set-up.

There is plenty to keep me busy until then.
I have a show of paintings that opens at the beginning of February.
More on that later, but I am painting and painting my old, fat fingers to the bone.
